    ACT Exam Performance

The ACT is a standardized test for high school students, with required sections for English, mathematics, reading, and scientific reasoning. Like the SAT, the ACT is used by many colleges and universities as a datapoint during the admissions process. HEB ISD uses average ACT scores of our graduating high school seniors as a way to ensure students are College and Career Ready for postsecondary opportunities across the nation.

The nonprofit organization that administers the ACT publishes national average scores for the entire test, and for each component test. For the overall test and the subcomponents, the chart below reflects how the average score of graduating HEB ISD students compare with the national average. (For HEB ISD's purposes, we focus on the ACT's overall result for all English Languages Arts (ELA) components, to align with the course progression offered in our high schools.)

Note: This data is aligned to Success Measure 1.5J in HEB ISD's Strategic Plan. ACT is the source for this information.
