Overview / History

  • Lakewood Elementary, home of the soaring Eagles, is one of 20 elementary schools in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School 澳门六合开奖直播. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood in north Euless, the school is approximately 15 minutes from D/FW International Airport at 1600 Donley.

A dedicated staff of approximately 60 professionals and paraprofessionals offers a variety of programs including resource, gifted, ESL, speech, library, fine arts including Suzuki Strings and physical education to an average of 640 students in grades prekindergarten through sixth grade. The kindergarten and sixth grade students share a special bond by participating in the Lakewood Kinderbuddies program. Each year each sixth grade student serves as a mentor or "buddy" for a kindergarten student. Special activities are planned each six weeks ranging from making crafts to book sharing. These activities develop leadership skills for the sixth graders and provide a greater sense of belonging for our youngest students.

In keeping with the school mission statement, Lakewood teachers are “Empowering students to Achieve Goals and become Lifelong learners for Enduring success.” Through teaching the whole child we are all working together to help students become responsible for their own learning while developing in all areas of academics as well as through the fine arts such as music and art.

The Lakewood Parent Teachers Association (PTA) is very active in promoting parental involvement and in supporting the various programs at the school. The annual Harvest Festival, class parties, Field Day, Lakewood Yearbook, and many other activities are provided with the support of the PTA. Parent volunteers are a regular part of each school day at Lakewood.

In addition, Lakewood Elementary is a Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD School of Choice, offering the internationally renowned Suzuki Strings program. Selected kindergarten through sixth grade students have had the opportunity to play the violin, viola, bass, and cello using the distinguished Suzuki instructional approach. The program takes place both during and after school. Parents are also involved in the program as they attend private and group lessons with their children. Lakewood is privileged to have Lakewood alumni, Amber Gutermuth as the Suzuki instructor.

These are just a few examples of how an active PTA and a dedicated staff strive to provide a positive and enriching environment. The students, parents, staff, and community are proud to be a part of this excellent educational setting. Lakewood Elementary is proud to be part of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School district where we are "Empowering Today to Excel Tomorrow."
