Letter from Melanie Mans, 2020-2021 Viridian Principal

Greetings Viridian Elementary Community:

It is an honor and a privilege to be the newly appointed principal of your precious school and to join the HEB ISD Team. Although I have been a principal for 15 years at three different schools in Dallas ISD and Metro Nashville Public Schools, I am planning to purchase a home near Arlington in the near future and hope to be a part of the Viridian community for many years to come.

I am a graduate of The University of Kansas and The University of North Texas and am a proud parent of two sons, a senior and a sophomore. You can often find me cycling, reading, cooking, or tweeting (@PrincipalMans) about my school. Another piece of trivia about me is that I taught in Acapulco for one year, which is where I learned most of my Spanish. I had the opportunity to travel to more than ten different states in Mexico while I lived there and loved learning about the different regions and their unique customs, dances, and other traditions. I am thrilled to learn that Viridian is a School of Choice for World Languages and Spanish Immersion.

I am excited to continue to bring my skills as an educational leader to Viridian and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure that your child reaches his or her potential. I will work hard to continue the success established at Viridian, by building strong relationships with teachers, staff, parents, students, and community partners.

I look forward to meeting many of you during these upcoming months, leading into the 2020-2021 school year. My goal is to help make this the best year at Viridian Elementary yet.

I will see you soon,
Ms. Melanie Mans
Principal
